Our school is commemorating the 330th anniversary of Otto von Guericke`s death. He has a high reputation as a scientist throughout Europe for his experiments in physics. The experiment to give evidence of the existence of air pressure in particular, is marvelled world-wide.
On the occasion of that anniversary, we will have an activity day on May 25 on the school premises.
Numerous projects will be presented by different departments like Science, Informatics, Electronics and Humanitarian Sciences.
The Lord Mayor of Magdeburg will recognize Òtto von Guericke with a speech in a commemorative event.
The inauguration of newly designed hemnispheres in front of the school building will be the highlight of the day. The design was created by a student of our school, supported by a local artist.
Members of the Otto-von-Guericke-Society will simulate some of Guericke`s experiments on the school yard, involving our 1st year students in most activities. Thus, they will receive an insight into the life and work of this physician.
Visitors are welcome on that day!!
